Addressing Why Only Two Mayoral Candidates Were Interviewed

This mini episode of I Can See Clearly Now addresses a question several viewers have asked directly. Why was one of the mayoral candidates not interviewed as part of the candidate interview series.

The purpose of the I Can See Clearly Now interview series is to give Farmington Hills voters the opportunity to hear directly from candidates in their own words. Every candidate for Farmington Hills City Council was invited to participate, and all five candidates agreed to be interviewed. Those interviews were completed and published so residents could review campaign priorities and perspectives.

For the office of mayor, three candidates were scheduled to be interviewed. Interviews were completed with two of those candidates. The third candidate, Theresa Rich, initially agreed to participate and was scheduled for an interview. That interview was later canceled by Mayor Rich and did not take place.

This mini episode is intended to clarify that absence, not to speculate about reasons or assign motive. The goal of the series has been consistency, transparency, and fairness. Viewers are encouraged to watch the interviews that were completed and to review campaign materials from all candidates when making their decisions.

The intent of I Can See Clearly Now remains unchanged. The series is designed to be educational, nonpartisan, and voter focused. Providing clarity around process is part of that responsibility.
